INFORMATION NEEDED

Officer Safety Alert

On 08/07/07, at approximately 0230 hours, the victim, and caretaker of an avocado grove located at 15814 Highland Valley Ranch Road in unincorporated Poway, interrupted a theft of avocadoes in progress.  The victim pursued the suspects as they fled west bound on Highland Valley Ranch Road to Bandy Canyon Road.  At Bandy Canyon Road and Ysabel Creek Road, the suspects fired 3-4 gunshots toward the victim.  The victim was not injured and the suspects fled west on Bandy Canyon Road.  An unknown amount of Lamb Hass avocadoes were stolen, however, approximately $1,500 worth of avocados were recovered in plastic trash bags at the scene of the theft.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males driving the following vehicles:
         
          Vehicle #1:  a red 2 door sports car, possibly a Nissan 240Z, late 90’s model.
          Vehicle #2:  a white Ford Econoline 350 van, no windows, late 90’s model.
          Vehicle #3:  a dark colored (blue or black), Toyota Tundra truck, newer model.

The victim stated the gunshots came from the Toyota Tundra.  If these vehicles or similar vehicles are observed in an area where avocadoes are grown, obtain license plate information and/or develop PC for a traffic stop and identify occupants.  Please forward the information to the detective listed below.

Detective Debbie Hahn took a 459PC-Commercial Burglary at 912 Urania
Avenue, Encinitas on 06-11-07.  A "Smith" R-8 Injector was stolen from
this greenhouse ( Daniel Mojonnier Enterprises).  Victim estimated loss
at about $4000.00.  Attached is a picture of what the injector looks
like.  My case # 07044263-E.

Attached is a link to the Smith injector that was taken from my property
over the weekend. The model is the R-8 single injection catalog number
08-2350-1.

$10,000. The LAPD is investigating.

Normans Nursery - Theft at South Duarte Yard in San Gabriel, Ca.  -  Entered thru locked gate on back side of yard.  Lock cut, gates open, tire tracks visible.  Entered on small residential street not front of yard on Duarte Rd. LA Sheriff Department took Report.

Normans Nursery - Theft at Arrow Hwy Yard in Irwindale, Ca. -  The fence on the east side by the Azusa Canyon Road entrance to the Santa Fe Dam was cut for entrance into the yard.

50   15 gallon Queen Palms taken and containers left behind.

May 27th

Baron Brothers Nursery - approximately 5000 - 5/g cans stolen from our Ventavo location in Moorpark. We don’t have a police report yet.

 

May 17th

Valley Crest Nursery – Last night an attempt was made to steal two all terrain vehicles ( Kawasaki Mules ) from our Fillmore Facility.  They came in through the riverbed and wetlands areas.  Fortunately the vehicles became stuck and we were able to recover them in the morning.  Successfully stolen were two power back pack blowers and a chain saw.  Replacement value of the power tools is about $1000.00

This incident was reported to and investigated by the Ventura County Sheriffs Dept.  I will forward the information to the Ventura County Farm Bureau.  Contact me if you have any questions. Terri L. Cook (714) 279-3107
