Earlier in Sept, an insect caught in a trap near San Diego was confirmed to be the state's first know arrival of the dreaded Asian citrus psyllid, a winged insect that enables the spread of a disease that renders fruit inedible and kills trees. The Asian citrus psyllid is a winged insect that sort of resembles a moth. It has a light brown head and mottled brown body. The first signs of Citrus Greening Disease are seen in the leaves. There is often yellowing along the veins of leaves or a blotchy mottle of leaves. Fruit will be misshapen and bitter. Seeds that are normally white will be grayish black.
