Sudden Oak Death - August 2002

A compliance agreement has been established which will allow certified nurseries in the counties where SOD has not been found to ship into Canada if they satisfy the provisions outlined in last month's update. Shipping nurseries must apply for new master permits and importing customers now need to apply for new import permits. The language for those permits is basically revised in Canada and it is my understanding that the permits must now be translated into French before we can resume shipments. Canadian officials indicated that shipments from non-infected counties may begin again in early September. Nurseries who have applied for new master import permits will receive their new permits when it is acceptable to ship to Canada.
